Jo-Anne Wilson and Elizabeth Dixon met and became fast friends while attending herbal studies at Mount Royal College in Calgary. After graduating, we felt there was a tremendous need for locally produced, high quality, all natural herbal products. We were very excited about creating these types of products and had many ideas.
Our company, Herbal Healing Inc., A Traditional Apothecary & Dispensary, was formed in September, 2002. We built a licensed kitchen in Elizabeth’s basement, got busy formulating, experimenting and creating and opened for business in January, 2003.
As the business prospered, we outgrew our location and a move to a bigger space was needed. After searching high and low, we found our “dream” building in Nanton, Alberta and moved in the fall of 2005. Built in 1912, the building was originally the home of the first doctor to reside in Nanton. This beautiful building is where our products are hand-crafted and over 150 herbs are stored. A second building onsite is where our organic herbal tea blends are prepared.
As Certified Herbalists, our priority is general health and well-being and our primary focus is to formulate and create premium quality products. All of our extensive product line is locally hand-crafted in our kitchen in our store in Nanton, Alberta. As we do not use preservatives our certified organic herbal tea blends and all natural bath and body products are made in small batches on an “as needed” basis. The products we offer you are effective botanical preparations and are guaranteed fresh.
All of the products manufactured by Herbal Healing are handled, analyzed and supervised by a full-time Quality Assurance Person. Every aspect of all of the products processing, manufacturing, packaging and labeling is done in accordance with strict quality control and organic handling procedures.
Herbal Healing is a Certified Organic Processor and Handler through Pacific Agricultural Certification Society (PACS) which is fully accredited by The Certified Organic Associations of BC (COABC) under the British Columbia Certified Organic Program to provide ISO 65 (International Standards Organization) compliant organic certification to producers, processors, handlers, distributors, brokers and retailers of organic agri-food products. The COABC also administers the BC Certified Organic Accreditation Program ISO 17011 compliant accreditation system.
As of June 30, 2009 a new Canadian Standard was implemented and COABC was designated by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to monitor and provide accreditation to certification bodies.
