We are a local family owned business that specializes in supplying high quality authentic European meats, cheeses and breads. Good food is a tradition that we pride ourselves in maintaining by sharing a unique glimpse into old country methods handed down for generations.
Where It all Started
Originally established in …the tradition of preparing cured meats was passed down to Luc by his grandfather, Cosmo.â¯Native to the region of Calabria, Cosmo DeMaria grew up in a large Italian household where food and family always came together.â¯“I came to Canada, and I thought about doing something from home” recalls Cosmo. Together, with his wife Lisa and son Jim, Cosmo began selling his products at various farmers markets throughout Ontario. Over the past 27 years, Cosmo has devoted his time ensuring high quality products for his costumers. Today, Cosmo’s understanding and appreciation of flavour, texture and variety makes his business a destination, not only for those of European extraction, but for all who wish to bring authenticity into their home.
The love for authentic, premium food, family and entertaining continues on today. In order to support and preserve Cosmo’s legacy, Luc, alongside his Father, Bruce, and Mother, Sonia carried on the family tradition and brought the business to the west. Luc’s European Meats was founded in Calgary in 2015 and now shares this tradition with several markets in and around the Calgary area.
Luc’s strongly believes in offering personable service and treating every customer like a family member. Luc’s also gaurantees the quality and service of their product.
We are excited about the future and plan to maintain the traditional practices of our previous generations, offering premium quality products and positive and memorable experiences to all.
Meet the Owner’s
Bruce began his career in the food industry as a kitchen manager for various restaurants. His attention to detail and passion for high quality food ensures that the company has a high expectation for standard and customer service.
Sonia enjoys researching and sharing family recipes to the customers, often spending her time at work creating charcuterie trays and appetizers. Her creative nature and Italian background brings an authentic, innovative touch to the business.
When Luc was 10 years old, he began spending his summers working alongside his Grandpa, Cosmo and Uncle, Jim learning the practices of the family business. After graduating, Luc had a dream to bring the family business to the west.
